The National Ministries of ABC/USA and the Alaska Baptist Churches have declared Alaska a mission field and have covenant together to plant at least one church in Alaska per year through the year 2010. Good Shepherd is our first step toward reaching our goal. As you are possibly aware, the East Anchorage area does not have an American Baptist Church presence. Here the opportunities are great to share the gospel of Jesus Christ. This commission is the first goal of Good Shepherd. The next challenge we have is to make the Gospel relevant to our young people and to those who do not know Jesus as Lord and savior. If Good Shepherd can meet this challenge then our effort will not be in vain.
