January 2005 Men's Ministry
"Men Centered in Christ"
Living God's Love to Their Families, Friends, Co-Workers & Community
Our Purpose:

The Men's Ministry of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church is focused on helping men grow in their God-given roles and to encourage and exhort one another toward maturity in Christ.
Men of God:
"... As for me and my house, we shall serve the LORD." Joshua 24:15
Pastor Patterson Challenges Men During Watch Night Services
Food and fellowship, fun and games, praise and prayer filled New Year's Eve at Shiloh;
however, Pastor Patterson's challenge to men for 2005 was the highlight of the day. He challenged men to "Trust God". He placed emphasis on three points from Joshua 4:4-7.
First, God calls us to follow leadership;
second, God calls us to prepare ourselves for what we have to do; and third, God calls us to tell the story of how we got to where we are.
If we are to cross over the "Jordan's of Life", we must trust God. We must trust God
with our leadership, trust God with our family, trust God with our health, trust God with our employment, trust God with our joy…we must trust God with everything! Lastly, Pastor Patterson reminded us that whatever God brings us to, God
will bring us through. So what has God brought you through? What is your story?

The Men's Chorus Needs You!

Men, do you know the Men's Chorus does not always need singers, but it always needs "a man's presence". On way for Christ-centered men to worship and praise the Lord is through song. Reverend Ben Williams, Director of the Men's Chorus, and the Men's Ministry have joined to encourage men to be a presence and sing for the Lord. The Men's Chorus sings every 4th Sunday and rehearses on the third and fourth Saturday's of each month at 10 am. Interested brothers, ages 19 and older, can contact Rev. Williams at 276-6673, or you can show up for rehearsal on January 10th and 22nd at 10 am.
Men's Bible Study

Rev. Darryl Huff and Rev. Donald Jones will lead two Bible Studies: "Every Man's Battle" (for ages 35-49) and "Every Young Man's Battle" (for ages 19-34). Stay tuned for details.

What Do You Bring to the Lord?
Next week we ask all men to participate in our "Skills-Talents-Desires Survey". This survey will help us to direct you in ministry and identify help for the church from within the church. Contact Deacon Robateau for more information at 276-6635.

Jeffrey King, Dave Williams and Gary Walker team up to use their carpentry and electrical skills on the church building.

Psalm 133:1
"Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity."
The Man Behind the Scene

Reverend Charles W. Coleman is Shiloh's "Man behind the Scene". If you do not see him in the sanctuary during the 8am or 11am service, it is because he is ministering to Shiloh's young ones in the Nursery – he's working behind the scene. He is also one of the church's and Men's Ministry's new cooks. As many of you know, Rev. Coleman went in for minor surgery, but came out of surgery with a speech impairment. Rev. Coleman, the Men's Ministry salutes you for allowing God to use you in spite of the outcome of your surgery.

A New Baby for the Hoovers
Welcome Home Lt. Bradley

Congratulations to Deacon Kevin Hoover and his wife, Karen, on the birth of their son, Joshua
"The Prince" Hoover.
Gentlemen, this is where it all begins. God's word in Proverbs 22:6 says, we are to "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is
old, he will not depart from it."
