2006 Theme: Men Walking in Authority, Living in Abundance
Brethren, Happy New Year! If we as men do one thing this year, let us commit ourselves to seeking God
and God's righteousness then, let us praise God as we see ourselves walking in God's authority and living in abundance.

Fire in the House
Ben Blunt says, "Thank You Brethren for your prayers and concerns over the fire affecting our adjoining mother-in law apartment on December 19th. Through it all, God continues to bless."
James 4:2 says, "We have not because we ask not." Well, Ben has asked, and Men's Ministry response is to help Ben with needed sheetrock and electrical work. Brethren, let's support Ben as he rebuilds his home. Stay tuned for dates and times.

Spotlight on Edward J. Mason
Congratulations Staff Sergeant Chris McCrary on being honored by senior leadership and Non-Commissioned Officers Corp at Fort Richardson for being selected to the prestigious Sergeant Audie Murphy Club. The Army strength consists of Active Duty, Mobilized, Guard, and Selected Reserves totaling 1,000,000+ men and women. As of 1998, there were approximately 3000 soldiers in the Sergeant Audie Murphy Club. Granted, there are officers in this number, but the enlisted force far outweighs the number of officers. The point is, only a small percentage of the Army Total Force are privileged to be selected into this club. SSG Chris McCrary, the Shiloh Men salute you and your accomplishment.

Edward J. Mason is the new Director of Family Support, a member of the King's Men's Chorus, and has been a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church since 1988. Ed was born in McColl, South Carolina and he grew up in Raeford, North Carolina. Upon graduating from high school, he moved to Washington, D.C., where he worked for Montgomery County Public Schools Operation Department, and was a student at the University of Maryland. He returned to North Carolina in 1967, and on August 31, 1969 married his high school sweetheart, the former Marta Jean Ellison, in her hometown of Laurinburg, North Carolina.
Ed's military career extends over 37 years and three branches of military service. He served in the United States Air Force from 1969 until July 1979. He, Marta, and one-year-old daughter, Edrienne, arrived at Elmendorf Air Force Base in Anchorage, Alaska in July 1976 for a three (3) year tour of duty. "Little did we know, that after almost 30 years, we would still be here in Alaska!" In July 1979, Ed departed from the United States Air Force and served in the Alaska Air National Guard until he enlisted in the Alaska Army National Guard in October 1980 as a traditional soldier. Over the next twenty-five years, he held all leadership positions in the Non-Commissioned Officers Corps through the rank of Command Sergeant Major. In April 2000, CSM Mason was selected as the eighth State Command Sergeant Major in the history of the Alaska Army National Guard. During the following four years, and at the time of his retirement on December 31, 2004, CSM Mason was the Senior Enlisted Advisor to The Adjutant General of the Alaska National Guard.
CSM Mason is a member in several professional and civic organizations. He is a member of the Enlisted Association of the National Guard of the United States, the Noncommissioned Officers Association, the Frontier Chapter of the Association of the United States Army, the Sergeants Major Association, and a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He is a Past Worshipful Master of Mt. McKinley Masonic Lodge #2, and a 32nd Degree Shriner.
Ed and Marta Mason, his devoted wife of 36 years, reside in Anchorage and are the very proud parents of three wonderful children: Edrienne 30, Jamal 27, and Jonathan 23. Ed enjoys Shiloh, working with people, helping others, and spending quality time with family, bowling, fly fishing, and golfing.
