2nd Annual Men's
Health Conference
"In Shape to Serve"

On May 6th from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM, the Men's Ministry will hold their 2nd Annual Men's Health Conference in the church gym. This conference is designed to place emphasis on prevention rather than cure. We will feature a team of doctors, an HIV/AIDS specialist, and a dietician. The latest information on hypertension, high blood pressure, diabetes, cancers (colon, lung and prostate), gout, arthritis, oral hygiene, erectile dysfunction, diet and exercise, and HIV/AIDS will be presented and discussed with attendees. Tickets will be available in the church office for a $5.00 donation, or can be obtained from Henry Heyward or Donald Swanson. Call 276-6673 for more information.

On March 30, in a meeting consisting of the Music Ministry and leaders of the Men's and Women's Ministry, Michael Claiborne was named The King's Men Chorus Director.

The meeting also announced the realignment of The King's Men and the Women's 5th Sunday Choir, which now falls under the Men's and Women's Ministry, respectively. Congratulations Mike!

Spotlight on Charles "Chuck" Sherrill, Sr.

Charles "Chuck" Sherrill, Sr. is an active member of the Bus Ministry and the Men's Ministry at Shiloh. He was a member of Corinthian Baptist Church in Fairbanks, Alaska from 1978 to 1991. Chuck was born in North Carolina and he grew up in Landis, North Carolina.

He entered the U.S. Army on July 7, 1960 upon graduating from high school. Chuck's military assignments included Fort Jackson, SC; Fort Campbell, KY; Vietnam (three tours); Germany, Fort Bragg, NC; Fort Benning, GA; and Fort Wainwright, AK.

Chuck was assigned to Alaska in 1978. Little did he know that he would be in Alaska 28 years later. In Alaska he became the Commandant of the Snowhawk Orientation Training Committee, teach skiing, mountain climbing, rappelling, and arctic survival to all military personnel arriving at Fort Wainwright. Chuck also coordinated and participated in the television program "Arctic Survival" for KTVF TV, Channel 11 in Fairbanks, Alaska. On March 31, 1981, Chuck retired as First Sergeant at Fort Wainwright, Alaska after over 21 years of military service.

1SG Sherrill is a member of several civic and professional organizations including the Non-Commissioned Officers Association, Military Retired Council of Alaska, the American Legion, life-time member of the VFW, Cheechako Lions Club, past commander-in-chief of Top of the World Consistory #32, past potentate of Al Jabbar Temple #214 of Fairbanks, Alaska and a 33 Degree Mason.

Chuck is an entrepreneur. He is executive coordinator with the Shaklee Corporation. Shaklee is a 50-year old company that promotes health and wellness by providing all natural environmentally friendly products in the line of nutrition, water and air purification, home cleaning products, skin care and color cosmetics At the 2005 Annual Shaklee Convention held in Chicago, Chuck received three awards and honors as one of the high achievers. He is pictured on the front cover of the Shaklee Bravo magazine for fall 2005. Chuck particularly enjoys developing entrepreneurs, guiding them to achieve financial independence.

Chuck is married to Freddie Sherrill, a registered nurse at Elmendorf Air Force Base. They are the parents of eight combined children, 23 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Chuck loves spending time with his grandchildren. His hobbies are traveling, fishing, hunting, and chasing a golf ball every now and then.

2006 Fellowship Kickoff at Roscoe's Catfish and Bar-B-Que

On February 18th, fifty-three men joined Rev. Davis at Roscoe's Catfish and Bar-B-Que as he shared the plans for the Men's Ministry for 2006. The event was topped off by Roscoe's catfish and barbecue chicken with all the trimming, and the fellowship of the brethren. Thank you Pastor Patterson, Roscoe's, and all of the men who contributed to the success of the fellowship. God is good!
